Nickelodeon All Star Brawl Shows Levels Reveal Trailer

In the Avatar universe, each style of bending was modeled after different martial arts. Waterbending follows the smooth motions of Tai Chi, earthbending the rooted movements of Hung Gar, firebending using Northern Shaolin and airbending the light Bagua. Avatar: The Last Airbender is my favourite series of all time - I watched the whole 61-episode run three times during the pandemic and have an enormous tattoo based on The Tale of Iroh lining the inside of my right bicep. I’m admittedly a little less into The Legend of Korra , but it’s still probably in my top ten TV shows. This is a universe I’ve devoted hundreds of hours to, and I’ll be damned if Nick is bringing out a Smash -esque brawler that forgets about some of the best characters in animation history.

That’s just a stage, though. I mean, it would be weird to have Avatar stages and no Avatar characters, but it’s not necessarily impossible. Fortunately, the actual cover art for All-Star Brawl features at least two silhouettes that are unmistakably supposed to represent Avatar characters. I’ve circled Korra and Aang below, who can be distinguished by their braid and ear, respectively.


So far, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl's box art is composed only of fighter silhouettes, not even showing those already announced in the roster. To the left of the shadowed cover art is an image that looks strikingly familiar to Korra. The silhouette holds a flexed arm out with a clenched fist, leading back to the shadow of a head that seems to mirror Korra's early series hairstyle with three distinct ponytails. Just below the silhouette that resembles Korra is the shadow of an outstretched human hand. With the Avatar universe top of mind, it closely resembles the hand and sleeve of Aang. Aang is frequently seen with his hand outstretched, a pose matching the shadow on the cover


As revealed by IGN , Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a fighting game in the style of Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Players will be able to battle as any of a number of Nickelodeon characters from franchises like TMNT, The Wild Thornberrys, Ren & Stimpy, SpongeBob SquarePants, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Hey Arnold!, Rugrats, Invader Zim, _ and more. Like _Super Smash Bros. , players challenge each other across platform-filled, 2D levels. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will have 20 stages to choose from, including Jellyfish Fields from SpongeBob SquarePants and the Technodrome from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles . The trailer for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl does give a look at a stage that looks ripped right out of The Wild Thornberrys . In screenshots, it's also shown that this level can seemingly turn upside down, giving more credence to the idea that these stages will shift. Another shifting stage might be the two stages directly related to Shredder and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles . The trailer shows brawls happening in sewers and Shredder's Technodrome. Avatar: The Last Airbender ran on Nickelodeon from 2005 - 2008, while The Legend of Korra aired from 2012 - 2014. The former follows Aang, the avatar who had been missing for 100 years. He must learn to master all four elements in order to bring the fire nation to heel and restore balance between the nations. The Legend of Korra is about Aang's successor, Korra, who has to work to bring unity on the physical and spirit realms alike. Both shows were met with critical and fan acclaim, and saw a resurgence in popularity when both Avatar series came to Netflix in 2

Hopefully there are more characters, stages, and tracks from Avatar included in the final game. As for now, though, I’m just happy that it seems Avatar is being included to at least some extent. This is my favourite series ever made, and, honestly, I’m relieved to finally see it being represented in a modern video game, even if Aang and Korra are getting into fistfights with the dinosaur from Rugrats.
