For various reasons, Battlefield 5 didn't meet EA's sales expectations . While there are a number of factors that lead to that result, it's fair to say that fatigue for the World War setting has taken over. Battlefield 1 released towards the end of 2016, and Battlefield 5 two years after that in 2018. For the past few years, Battlefield fans have been caught in the two World Wars, and while they brought different maps, weapons, and vehicles, for the mainstream audience the setting itself simply isn't different enough. That presents a fundamental problem for EA and developer DICE. Battlefield 5 could introduce a mountain of brand-new maps, but the player base will still feel like they've played it bef

Insider Tom Henderson, who has previously shared accurate information about the latest Modern Warfare and Black Ops releases before release, is now dropping reveals about the next Battlefield game set to be released sometime in 2021 . Replying to user Usman, https://battlefield2042pedia.com who tweeted about his own love and nostalgia for Battlefield 3 , Henderson replied saying, "you'll be a happy bunny next year then" with a little smiley face for his followers. Afterwards, Henderson explained his vague statement clarifying that he was not referring to a remaster of Battlefield 3 - which another (and less reliable "insider" ) has claimed is also happening - but rather, the next installment of the franchise. Battlefield 6 , he claims, is a modern-set game which seems all but obvious anyway at this point given the response to the last several BF games and the record-setting popularity of Call of Duty's long overdue return to a modern setting in Modern Warfa

Call of Duty will have much more momentum than Battlefield does going into 2021, mostly thanks to Warzone 's surprising success (and Firestorm 's failure). Call of Duty is at a peak of players and and success, but Black Ops Cold War will have to top the previous game if Activision wants to stay on top. Trailers and closed betas are making players excited for Black Ops Cold War , and EA has yet to do anything to revive the hype for a new Battlefield game. Will EA be able to bring back the age-old debate of Call of Duty vs Battlefie

While Modern Warfare has been wildly successful, Battlefield V hit a slump. The game was underwhelming and did not release enough content to keep players hooked, and its battle royale, Firestorm , definitely did not live up to expectations. It's safe to say that Battlefield V put the series into a bad place, and it'll be interesting to see if the next Battlefield game can revive the series. DICE and EA may be able to make a comeback, even with the hyped release of Black Ops Cold War later this y

Battlefield 6 is confirmed for the PS5 and Xbox Series X , making the game an inevitability. While fans have long awaited a return to Bad Company, at this point Bad Company 3 is beginning to feel more like a pipe dream than a possibility. But, that doesn't mean that EA has to avoid the modern setting entirely. Battlefield 3 is still considered one of the best entries in the franchise to this day, and there are plenty of fans that would welcome a remaster of the g

Battlefield 6 is a next-gen game with a next-gen release date, with the game planned to launch sometime in the fiscal year 2022. That narrows it down to a launch window between October 2021 to September 2022. Traditionally, Battlefield releases in the fall with many of the year's other heavy-hitters, so, a fall 2021 release date seems like the most likely possibility. That means Battlefield 6 won't be competing with the next Call of Duty, it will exist in the wake of it and compete with the entry after that, which will presumably be from Sledgehammer games. The typical Call of Duty developer rotation has become a bit jumbled lately, as Sledgehammer's next Call of Duty has reportedly had a troubled development cyc

Without a doubt, it'll be interesting to see where the Battlefield franchise goes next. There are plenty of possibilities as to what the next entry will look like, but another modern game feels like a good way to kick off the next generation of Battlefield games. There's been an incredibly long period of growth for the franchise, and while it's had its ups and downs, it seems like it may soon be headed in the right direction. Only time will tell, but fans should have something to look forward to on the horizon. It may be a bit before fans actually learn what that is, but, hopefully, it's something they've been waiting

What's more impressive is how, even with all these elements of choice and weapon customization, guns still fit right in with the staples of the Create-A-Class system. Even amongst all of the possibilities of unfair advantages with Gunsmith, the system was balanced surprisingly well with perk distribution in multiplayer. Duplicates like faster reloading perks were adjusted and changed, and some existing perks were routed into different tiers to compensate for new weapon perks and attachments. Gunsmith's comprehensive customization allowed greater variety, largely without sacrificing competitive balance in the process. There have been some egregious exceptions in Modern Warfare like the GRAU , but for the most part the game has aptly balanced guns and perks quite w
